It was a great day at the IOT for utilities conference in Houston today. There were many collaborative conversations and great ideas shared. It was good to be able to help give direction to IOT strategies and initiatives while sharing my industry experience and knowledge.
Everyone I spoke with was eager to see how IOT as a service could provide them interoperability to tie together legacy systems, processes and people to drive growth, increase customer satisfaction and reduce exposure to liabilities.
It was clear that closed loop solutions were what the market not only wants but is in fact demanding from their partners. In my opinion many utility companies will begin to rapidly adopt and deploy IOT solutions over the coming year.
Of course I advise the crawl, walk, run approach with specific measurable objectives that can be deployed and assessed within sixty days to quickly determine how it will impact the business.
